Today is known in Christianity as Epiphany (also known as the Feast of the Three Kings), which I recently read is taken from the Greek word “epiphaneia,” meaning “manifestation.”
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines manifestation as a “perceptible, outward, or visible expression.”
We know that the Magi were some pretty important people, and yet they set out on a journey to find the King of Kings, and their incredible belief in something greater than themselves led them to see a star which guided them to where Jesus was.
The gifts they gave Him are not unlike the treasured gift of ourselves that we can share with Jesus through one another, a concept I hadn’t really pondered until our pastor spoke of it today.
In comparison, our own lives are a journey of becoming our truest selves.
Isn’t it beautiful to consider that whatever we share of ourselves with everyone we encounter is our way to honor-and ultimately meet our loving creator! That’s an epiphany worth passing along 😉

My initial insight stemmed from Pope Benedict’s reflection on it. I chose today’s title from a line in his meditation I listened to this morning if you’d like to maybe get a little insight into this special day, too: http://www.st.lukeproductions.com/benedictus-media/mp3/01_07.mp3
